Kevin Crane – Chief Operations Officer (COO)
16 Years of Full-Time Experience | Lifelong Connection to Numismatics
Kevin Crane serves as Co-Owner and Operations Manager at L&C Coins, where he oversees inventory management, online sales, and serves as the company's principal buyer.
Since joining full-time in 2009 after graduating college, Kevin has been instrumental in maintaining the family business's reputation for integrity and expertise built over five decades.
Early Foundation in Numismatics
Kevin's involvement with L&C Coins extends far beyond his 16 years of full-time work. Growing up, he spent Saturday mornings at the shop with his father Lee, sorting coins and learning the business from the ground up. This hands-on experience continued through college, where he worked summers and breaks, developing the practical knowledge that guides his buying decisions today.
"In many ways, I've worked here my whole life," Kevin reflects. "Those early Saturday mornings with my dad taught me more than any formal training could."

Areas of Expertise
Strategic Inventory Acquisition
Kevin manages L&C Coins' inventory acquisition, spending his days evaluating online offerings and building relationships with sellers across the country. His buying strategy focuses on identifying quality pieces that meet the exacting standards L&C Coins has maintained since 1974.
His training came directly from 50+ years of combined experience with his father Lee and longtime colleague Pete, who taught him to evaluate coins through informal but rigorous mentorship in authentication and market assessment.
Customer Relations & Support
As the primary contact for customer inquiries, Kevin handles everything from technical support to collection-building advice. He understands that collectors' needs vary widely, and takes pride in providing personalized guidance whether helping a beginner or an experienced numismatist.
Market Intelligence
Kevin tracks market trends by observing what sells and what collectors seek. Over the past five years, he's noticed exponential growth in demand for key date rarities across all series such as Morgan dollars, Mercury dimes, Lincoln cents. "The tough dates people want, and they're always going after them," he notes. "Sometimes they go for crazy amounts of money."
He stays current through industry publications like Numismatic News, Coin World, and the Florida United Numismatic magazine, reading articles that catch his interest on topics from California gold to emerging varieties.
Collecting Interests
Kevin's personal favorite is the $3 Gold Piece series—an obsolete denomination with low mintages that appeals to his preference for rare, unusual coins. "It's an awkward, obsolete denomination," he explains. "A lot of them are lower mintages. Just a cool series."
The L&C Coins Difference
When asked what sets L&C Coins apart, Kevin points to longevity and reputation: "To make it in this business, to have the longevity that we do, you need to have a good reputation, you need to have integrity, you need to have honesty. That's a big reason why we're here today still."
He values the low-stress environment of a small family business where he can work alongside his father and brother without the constraints of corporate culture. "The three of us have a great relationship, inside and outside of work," Kevin says. "I don't take that for granted."
The team at L&C Coins includes approximately 10 dedicated staff members who help manage the sophisticated operation that serves collectors nationwide through multiple channels including the main website, eBay store, and monthly print catalogs.
Daily Operations
Kevin's typical day involves sourcing inventory online, responding to customer inquiries, managing staff, and coordinating new releases from the U.S. Mint. When new products launch, which happens unpredictably throughout the year, Kevin dedicates significant time and resources to securing inventory and serving customer demand.
While evaluating estate collections, Kevin encounters everything from common circulated coins to exciting rarities that make the work worthwhile. "You get stuff that's run-of-the-mill, nothing exciting. And then you get exciting coins here and there that make it worth keep doing it."
Kevin's deep roots in the business, combined with his strategic approach to inventory management and customer service, help ensure L&C Coins continues the tradition of excellence established by his father in 1974.
